Welcome to Villa Basca! Named after the beautiful city of Baška Voda, the Villa is located in the heart of the city surrounded by all its attractions and blue-flag-awarded, magnificent beaches.
Enjoy the unique mixture of history and modern luxury: we designed our accomodation carefully by combining old tradition and the buildings' history with modern interior equipment. Paired with our unique furniture and our carefully selected details, we want to offer our guests the most enjoyable stay.
The 9 comfortable rooms all come with a parking spot and breakfast, which contains the finest fresh and local products.
Our largest room „Brik“ with its 60 m2 has gotten its name by brig, a type of sailingboat with two square-rigged masts and a square mainsail. In comparison to other sailboats like brigantine, brigg contains one more mast, which makes it easier to handle while boating. Our own brigg contains one additional „mast“, too, the loggia, which is why the room has gotten the name.
Our room on the 3rd floor has gotten its name by the mountain Biokovo, which is located above Baska Voda and our Villa. In this room you can enjoy the view over the breathtaking mountain, which is not only known for its heights but also for its unsuspected caves and pits with endemic species and wonderful landscape, which people have been populating ever since.
Our room „Brac“ is located on the southern side on the 3rd floor and is named after the island Brac, which you can see from the room. The island is best known for its various coves, lagoons and over 300 wellsprings, as well as for the world famous Brac stone. There are no rivers or seas on the island but you can still find remaining canyons carved by river Cetina from when Brac was still part of the mainland.
The name of our room „Bastun“ means translated bowsprit, which is a spar extending forward from the vessel's prow on a sailingboat. Nowadays it is mostly used as decoration on boats, just as the fence from the romantic balcony of this room. It decorates the southern side of the house and is a replica of the original fence from the former house.
On the 2nd floor is our room „Bura“ which got its name from the northern to north-eastern katabatic wind in the Adriatic Sea, which blows from the mainland to the sea. Although it is known for its intensity and force, it is just because of Bura that we get to have some amazing views over the sea as it clarifies the water. Bura has always been a muse and an inspiration for writers and singers, like for example in the first croatian novel „Planine“ (mountains), so maybe you too find your inspiration in this wind.
Named after a wind which comes from the same direction, our northeastern room got the name „Burin“. Burin is a light summer breeze which announces good weather and is always welcomed on warm days. The wind blows not nearer than 10km from the coast and has got its name after his „older brother“ Bura as they both blow from the same direction.
„Bava“ is a light wind that blows just slightly over the sea. He is common used in old croatian phrases like „ćuti se bava“ (which means „I can hear bava coming“) and "jema lipe bave“ (which means „There is the beautiful bava“), both describing how much locals love this particular type of wind. It is especially welcomed and soothing on warm weather days, just like our eponymous room.
Bonaca is the term for the absolute calm sea, the silence without any wind and the smooth and flat sufrace of the water. Our room is called after that wonderful scene. In this room you can also come to this „Bonaca“ state of mind and relax and unwind from your daily routines just like the sea recovers from the stormy winds and waves.
Our room „Bracera“ is named after a traditional wooden sailboat with a characteristical bow thruster and an ornament in the form of an eye on the bow. You can find this specific type of a sailboat on many old pictures and photographs of Baška Voda. Just as Bracera´s used the winds for the drive, you can also enjoy and feel these winds from our „prova“- the balcony of our room Bracera.
